Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, along with party general secretary, Nahida Nasreen , press secretary, Sofi Fehmeeda and two other innocent girls has been shifted to Srinagar Central jail after court in Islamabad remanded them in judicial custody.

“Baaji Sahiba and the others was taken to Islamabad for hearing where the court remanded them from police custody to judicial custody and sent them to Srinagar central jail,” DeM spokesman, Rifat Fatima, said in a statement. She said that though the trio was sent into police remand under a case filed by Soura Police station in which they were bailed twice, Monday’s hearing was regarding a fresh FIR that was lodged by Islamabad police on June 7. She said that the party chairperson along with others was arrested on April 20 in Islamabad. “As was already known through different reports, Andrabi Sahiba was critically ill and was recently taken to police hospital for medical checkup and other diagnosis.

Further checkups and follow ups were recommended by doctors and she also had to undergo several diagnostic tests,” she said. She said that the lawyer had asked the court to extend the police remand, at least for a week, and keep her at Rambagh Police station because of Andrabi’s poor health and easy access to the nearby police station. “Baaji Sahiba is suffering as the ailment is critical and we all know that the Central Jail has been turned in Guantanamo jail and it is almost impossible for Baaji Sahiba to get permission for a health check up there,” she added. Rifat said that the jail authorities at Srinagar Central Jail do no care even if an inmate dies there. “There are so many formalities and it is almost impossible that any inmate will be taken to hospital at the Central jail. All they do is to lodge people there and then leave them to die,” she added.

Rifat further said that the government of India and the police are so afraid of Andrabi Sahiba and the DeM, that they want to keep her in custody for ever. “ It is nothing but frustration. They don’t allow her even to get medical attention which is highly condemnable,” she added
